Project Overview : This Shelter community was constructed in honor of a dear Couples for Christ brother and an exemplary servant of GOD - Francis Yap. The location of the homes is in Botolan, Zambales, his hometown.
Due to its location, Zambales is exposed to coastal erosion caused by typhoons. Those living in the coastal areas, such as Brgy. Capayawan in the town of Botolan, are the main victims since their residential areas decrease yearly because of this issue.
As a temporary preventive measure, houses are built with materials (e.g., coconut leaves and bamboo) that are cheaper and are easily transferred to or found on other locations, should they need to evacuate. However, this sacrifices the stability of the residential structures, making way for possible accidents.
Capayawan, Botolan
The site is located in Brgy. Capayawan, Botolan, Zambales, along a provincial road about 1.5 km from the municipal hall of Botolan. It holds an area of 9,997 sqm having a target of 84 rowhouses. Each lot has a dimension of 4m x 10m or an area of around 40 sqm. Proposed open spaces would include a chapel, a day care center, an elementary school, a multipurpose building, or a park/playground.
